With funding from Arts Council England and a focus on sustainable support for creative career development, our vision is to build a model across the Tees Valley that will drive forward the Skills and Workforce agenda, support talent development and nurture new collaborations between young people, creative businesses and arts organisations. In September, Tees Valley Creative Job Studio curated pop-up events at the Job Centre Plus in Hartlepool. These events encourage young people to share their experiences, in an open and honest environment, with job seeking in the creative industries and beyond. Using philosophical enquiry as a conversation starter, young people meet industry professionals without the pressure and formality of an interview situation, exploring a world that has seemed out of reach so far. From the success of the Job Centre Plus pop-up events in Hartlepool, Tees Valley Creative Job Studio will deliver similar pop up events in Job Centres around Middlesbrough in the coming months.

On 19, 20 and 22 November MIMA will be one of the venues hosting Discover! Creative Careers week which will see hundreds of employers from across the creative industries opening their doors to secondary school students. Throughout the week, participating schools will take part in interactive experiences across various creative industries, giving students meaningful encounters with both employers and employees and providing information and insight into some of the lesser-known jobs that exist across the creative industries.

The events willl happen across the building with local creative practitioners and colleagues. The work made and explored during the events will create part of the new Art in Action space which will open in MIMA on 28 November.
