THIS IS IT! was exactly what I needed. It left my mind whizzing with ideas. I don’t know what the future holds but I will keep working and keep climbing the ladder.”
The Creative Society is an arts employment charity that helps young people into jobs in the creative and cultural industries.
Supported by Arts Council England, and delivered by Creative & Cultural Skills, this £15 million lottery-funded programme will generate up to 6,500 new work opportunities for unemployed 16-24 year olds across England.
Arts and cultural employers within the Arts Council’s footprint* can apply for funding towards the costs of employing new apprentices and paid interns, and join a network of organisations that will provide traineeship opportunities for 16-18 year olds. The programme will run from March 2013 until March 2015, aiming to generate up to 1,600 traineeships, 2,900 apprenticeships and 2,000 paid internships.
The creative and cultural industries are a success story for the UK. Even during the recession employment has grown at five times the rate of the economy but routes into jobs have traditionally been narrow, and there is a pressing need to attract a wider pool of talent.
The Creative Employment Programme aims to address skills gaps in the sector, encourage innovation and collaboration, improve recruitment practice and alleviate current high levels of youth unemployment. We deliver the youth-facing activities of the Creative Employment Programme, a professional support network for young people – THIS IS IT!. We also lead a consortium of London-based CEP employers.
If you are interested in growing and developing your workforce whilst encouraging a new generation of talent to enter the sector, please go to creative-employment.co.uk to find out how you can get involved, or contact email@example.com.
If you are 16-24 and looking for a creative placement through the programme, please refer to Creative & Cultural Skills’s Creative Choices website. For a wide range of paid creative opportunities and entry level creative jobs, visit ThisIsItNetwork.co.uk.
