Mandelson: creative industries “critical” to UK economic success.

Lord Mandelson will later today champion the case for governmental intervention into the creative industries, though will not make specific funding pledges, the Guardian writes.
The Trade Secretary will iterate to the Digital Britain summit at the British Library the need for greater broadband access nationwide if the creative media industries are to lead the UK economy out of recession.
He will speak following the keynote speech by Gordon Brown. Culture secretary Andy Burnham will also address the gathering.
