New Deal of the Mind has become The Creative Society
Since founder and CEO Martin Bright wrote the article that kick-started our work, the concept of a New Deal of the Mind has provided a mutually rewarding service in which creative organisations and businesses have directly benefitted from the creation of over 1000 sustainable jobs for young people.
As our work has evolved however, we’ve had to evolve with it, and now need a new way to better reflect the positive outcomes that we as New Deal of the Mind have helped to shape.
We are therefore evolving our brand to become known as The Creative Society with a mission to build and support the creative economy.
Look out for changes across our social media sites – coming very soon.

The Bernie Grant Arts Centre and New Deal of the Mind are launching “The Next Chapter” – a project to record the stories of those affected by the riots in Tottenham and document the rebuilding process.
The Next Chapter’s aim is to assist in healing Tottenham by providing an open, neutral space where residents can freely express their thoughts about the recent disturbances in the area.
Building on the success of the History Shop in Exmouth Market earlier in the month, a “story booth” will be set up at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre where people can come and record their stories and views. Hundreds of local people will be invited to the Bernie Grant Arts Centre to share their thoughts. The project will work with young people from the community, as well as shopkeepers, Residents Associations, Youth Offending Teams, and people who suffered directly as a result of the violence. On the 3rd August New Deal of the Mind launched their latest project, the jeli sound archive. The launch took place at The Vortex Jazz Club in Dalston, featuring live jazz from an exciting group of young British musicians, as well as an introduction to the project. The band played a set reflecting on the diversity of our British musical heritage, re-telling old stories in the form of British jazz standards, and some more instantly recognisable tunes by UK artists across genres, including a startling cover of Radiohead.
The Vortex, a quirky centre for contemporary Jazz in North London, was packed as the research team introduced the project and the musicians played their first set. (more…)
